I’m going to start out with a brief caveat: I know that nobody uses Novell anymore. My agency is currently migrating all of our office automation services away from Novell to Microsoft, but it’s not finished yet, so for the time being, we have to deal with the Novell client.
The issue is this:
- Once connected to a View session, disconnects from the session.
- The user tries to reconnect to the session, but they get a black screen.
- The user closes the View Client, reconnects and gets a blue background screen for several minutes, then the Novell client login screen finally appears.
- Resetting the VM brings the Novell client login screen up properly once the VM is rebooted.
We had been troubleshooting this issue with VMware for several days, when our reps escalated to another group which found the following, potentially troublesome, setting within a GPO:
We removed this setting this morning to find out it finally resolved our issue. In the end, we set it to a value much higher than one minute, which allayed security concerns, as well as removing the issue from the PoC.
