Share: Federal Cloud – Is it a cloud or isn’t it? by Tony Wilburn

I just read an interesting article on the fed gov cloud by fellow DC-area virtualization engineer Tony Wilburn which I found quite interesting.

From my perspective, it seems like there’s a lot more going on in the private cloud arena with respect to federal government cloud initiatives, mainly due to security concerns. Many agencies, including the one for which I work, are bound by law to secure certain sections of their data in manners which would preclude a multi-tenant environment, so they’re rightfully scared of public/community cloud. In the end, many agencies will find there are a lot of workloads which are suitable for a community cloud, and, eventually, make their way there.
